At Advanced Dental we offer bridges or fixed partial dentures for patients with one or more missing teeth. Bridges are permanent and can only be removed by a dentist. Did you know that even one tooth missing will affect your bite and/or speaking? We can restore your bite and your beautiful smile with a bridge.
A dental bridge is a bridge that spans the gap from a missing tooth. Dental crowns are used to anchor the false tooth. The anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth. A false tooth is placed between the two crowns called pontics.
During your first visit, your anchor teeth, or the abutment teeth, are prepared. An impression of your teeth will then be made and used as a model to make your crowns, fake tooth, and bridge in a laboratory. A temporary bridge is made to protect the teeth while your permanent bridge is being made.
During your second visit, the temporary bridge is removed. Your new bridge will need to be checked to see if you need any adjustments to acquire a proper fit. You may have to come in for adjustments before your bridge is permanently attached.
A bridge can bring back your beautiful smile, distribute the forces in your bite evenly, prevents other teeth from shifting in your mouth, and maintains the structure of your facial features. Bridges are made from several different types of material, such as porcelain, gold or alloy.
If a bridge seems like a solution to you, please call Advanced Dental at 507-345-1284 and make your appointment.
